A century ago a young man by the name of Frank Mazzaferro left the shores of Italy on an epic adventure to the Land of Opportunity, America. With a fire in his heart and a hunger for success, he founded Mazzaferro’s Meat Market in Rome, New York. His store quickly became a staple of the local community. Frank married Letitia and together they raised a family of six children, with three of their sons carrying on the family business.
As the business evolved, Frank and Letitia’s grandchildren, Brian and Joe took over the reins. They both worked with their grandparents, uncles and father starting in their teen years.
They faced the challenges of changing times with determination just as they had seen their parents and grandparents do. With the city growing and needs changing around them they rose to the challenges, preserving the quality of fresh cut meats, traditional foods and welcoming environment.
There were many wild moments along the way, like the time the bull got loose and had to be chased down by the police department, but through it all, Mazzaferro’s remained a testament to Frank’s vision and the family’s unwavering commitment to serving the best meat in town.
